Thousands of European green crabs are overwhelming areas of Puget Sound and the west coast of Vancouver Island.

The small, voracious crab is one of the world’s worst invasive species with a tolerance for a wide range of temperatures and salinity, making it an adaptive invader that is difficult to control. It is known to wipe out shellfish and eelgrass beds, cause beach erosion and wreak havoc on marine environments up rivers and streams.

And no, they are not so good to eat.
