Unfortunately named “F” button

When Jim decided to include a page with a map for each region of the Salish Sea indicating where fuel is available, he wanted to include a link to it from every page. He figured it would be a great addition for when boaters wanted to instantly know the closest place to fuel up.

A small blue circle with a little “F” for Fuel seemed to be the obvious answer. What could be more intuitive? Placed where everyone would see it, up on the top right of each page next to the “I” button, which of course takes you to an Index page.

Turns out, a lot of folks don’t see either the “F” or “I” buttons.

We soon realized we were pointing out the “F” button to a fair number of users who asked for details about using the guide, and, yes, there was some giggling about the button’s unfortunate name when we discussed using it to find fuel.
