Cruising Cajun

Cruising Cajun

Just throw our Cajun seasoning together and let it change your life.

Really? You are going to post a condiment on your cruising blog? What fun…”  And that, of course, is likely to be the reaction of some boaters faced with a recipe for seasoning powder.

But this is not just any powder. This is Cruising Cajun, a seasoning that goes with so many meats and vegetables on the barbecue, the stove or in the oven. We use it on just about everything.

It has also allowed us to clear out a mess of other sauces and seasonings that we no longer use and were just taking up space aboard.

Yes, you can get all sorts of store-bought versions of Cajun seasoning, but this recipe allows you to play god. Follow the recipe below once, then the world is your (Cajun) oyster.

Cruising Cajun

  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • (optional) 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • (optional) 1 crushed bay leaf

Place it in an old spice bottle and shake to your heart’s content.
