Rosario Resort & Marina, the historic facility on the shores of Orcas Island’s East Sound, has new owners. The sale closes on the last day of February, but the resort will cease all operations on Feb. 19. The resort’s employees were given lay-off notices last month.

The marina and adjacent facilities will remain open, while most lodging will close, at least temporarily. The new owner has not been identified, but does live in the area.

The Moran Mansion itself, built in the early 1900’s, including the Mansion Restaurant, Moran Lounge, Spa, Museum, and all facilities within the mansion will remain closed while upgrades are undertaken.

The resort currently includes the Moran Mansion and museum, the Mansion Dining Room, the Cascade Bay Grill, Dockside General Store, The Spa at Rosario, three swimming pools, outdoor games, and over a hundred guest rooms scattered about the property with views of Cascade Bay. There are also two-bedroom condominiums.

The marina is a popular destination for boaters, with dock slips and mooring buoys.
