Orca calf survives

Nicknamed “Lucky,” and officially labeled L124, an Orca calf first spotted in January continues to live in Puget Sound.

The calf was the first known to be born in the area of the sound since the tragic death of another last summer whose mother continued to carry and push the dead calf with it for weeks after.

Lucky and his podd were reportedly last seen on March 9, “zig-zagging their way toward Obstruction Pass,” off the coast of northern Washington.
