Partnering with your yacht club
When a member of your yacht club purchases a Salish Sea Pilot cruising guide using your club’s unique promo code in our shopping cart, the member receives a 10% discount on the guide and your club receives a 33% share of the sales price.
Three times a year — for the periods of Feb 1 to May 31, June 1 to Sept 30, and Oct 1 to Jan 31 — we do an accounting of guide sales that were made using your yacht club’s code. We hope the payment schedule works for you, since allowing exceptions is not something we can do and still maintain our sanity!
About Supporters
We release a new edition of our Salish Sea Pilot guide every year. We are constantly upgrading and expanding coverage, as well as updating changes to marina costs, services and facilities.
Boaters who have purchased a full set of our guides in the past, or our newly merged guide, become “Supporters” and are eligible to upgrade to a newly updated guide any time in the future at a price that is less than half the regular price.
Yacht club members who qualify as Supporters must contact us, telling us which yacht club they wish to support. If they qualify, we will send them a code that will provide them with the Supporter discount, as well as an additional 10% discount, and identify the yacht club that will receive a 33% share of the sale.
Pricing the guides
We set the Canadian and US guide prices at the beginning of each year, based on the comparative values of the Canadian and US dollars at that time. Because we publicize the guide prices on both sides of the border each year, we are unable to make changes during the year as exchange rates fluctuate.
Promo codes for Canadian yacht clubs only work in the Canadian currency shopping cart; likewise, codes for US yacht clubs can only be used in the US currency shopping cart.
Canadian currency sales: The regular price of the guide is currently CA$89. Using the yacht club’s unique promo code in our shopping cart, boaters will receive a 10% discount, paying CA$80.10. Each time that code is used, the club’s share will be CA$26.70 ($89 – 10% = $80.10/3).
The regular supporter price in Canada, for boaters who have previously purchased a set of guides, is CA$39. Boaters who use the yacht club supporter code (obtained directly from us) will receive a 10% discount, paying CA$35.10. The yacht club will earn CA$11.70 ($39 – 10% = $35.10/3).
US currency sales: The regular price of the guide is currently US$65. Using the yacht club’s unique promo code in our shopping cart, boaters will receive a 10% discount, paying US$58.50. Each time a yacht club’s code is used, the club’s share will be US$19.50 ($65 – 10% = $58.50/3).
The regular supporter price in the US, for boaters who have previously purchased a set of guides, is US$29. Boaters who use the special yacht club supporter code (obtained directly from us) will get a 10% discount, paying US$26.10. The yacht club will earn US$8.70 ($29 – 10% = $26.10/3) from each supporter sale.
We plan to continue this revenue-sharing program until at least September 2027and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Stay safe,
Jim and Lynne
