Dock and mooring buoy repairs at Swíwelát (Princess Louisa Marine Park) are complete and the facilities are ready to receive boaters for the 2025 season.

At MacDonald Island, all new mooring buoys and anchors have been installed, including a fifth mooring buoy which was added to replace one lost to ice in the winter of 2019. The pier, ramp, and dinghy dock have also been renewed.

The new dock now includes a low platform that is level with the water surface, making it much easier to get in and out of a kayak or paddleboard. The dock at Macdonald Island is for small dinghies only (less than 15’), and no overnight moorage is permitted.

At Chatterbox Falls, temporary emergency repairs have been completed to keep the moorage facilities safe and functional for the 2025 season, said Princess Louisa International Society director Scott Johnson.

He said park officials are currently working with BC Parks on plans to replace the pier, ramp, kiosk, and ramp docks at Chatterbox Falls in early 2026, with the moorage docks scheduled for replacement between 2026 and 2028.
