Octopus Islands park grows
With another $100,000 donation to purchase a 20-hectare island for the Octopus Islands Marine Provincial Park, the B.C. Marine Parks Forever Society is continuing its efforts to finance the expansion of seaside recreation in the province.
The society, founded in 1990 by the Council of BC Yacht Clubs, has donated more than $2 million to purchase land for 10 marine parks. This is the third donation to Octopus Islands.
Located along the Okisollo Channel off northeast Quadra Island, Octopus Islands was established in 1974 to provide marine recreation opportunities and protect the local ecosystem.
