Jedediah Is. stern ties upgraded

Boaters visiting Deep Bay in Jedediah Island Marine Provincial Park will find the stern ties there have been upgraded. Some of the pins have been replaced while all of the chains have been updated with galvanized material.

As well, yellow markers have been added to each of the 17 stern ties to make them more easily seen from the water.

The project was initiated by the non-profit BC Marine Parks Forever Society (MPFS), which supplied all materials and shared the installation costs with BC Parks. The project was completed by the park operator, Innovative Aquaculture Products Ltd of Lasqueti Island.

Stern-tie pins and chains enhance boater safety by eliminating the need to climb over slippery rocks to shore tie, while also protecting trees from abrasion. In addition, the seabed is not damaged by chain from boats swinging on anchor.

Sorry for my late reply. There are no mooring buoys on Jedediah Island. They are wonderful to have, but require another level of commitment to maintain them.
