A poem for the gifting season

Twas the eve of Thanksgiving and friends on a boat
were planning ahead for next summer, afloat.
“If the wind is blowing south or southwest,
where will we find coverage that’s best?”

“Sidney Spit has a dock and great mooring balls.”
“Portland Island is lovely, but the cove is so small.”
“Or we can go here, to pick up our daughter.”
“But does that park dock still have drinking water”?

The discussion went on for what seemed like ages.

Then, a rap on the hull and who should appear?
But a sailor who said he couldn’t help overhear.

They turned to him, curious eyes open wide.
